Kingfisher named 'Healthy School' | Families

Health in schools is a concern for most parents, but parents of some Kingfisher students can rest assured their child’s school is taking action to create a healthier environment for students.

Kingfisher Middle School has been certified as a “healthy school” by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

The certification was issued as part of “Shape Our Future,” a campaign to get Oklahomans moving and healthy.

To be considered for certification, a school must meet at least two out of eight components on students’ health including physical education, health education and counseling services.

After meeting four of the criteria, Kingfisher earned the Certificate of Excellence.

Kingfisher Middle School will be honored at an awards ceremony in March at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
